Heartstart Club.

EMERGENCY LIFE SUPPORT SKILLS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE.
What is the aim of this club?
Emergency life support is the set of actions needed to keep a person alive in an emergency until professional help arrives. ELS can be used in a wide range of emergency situations, from choking and serious bleeding to cardiac arrest.
Children are often present at accidents and emergencies, and if properly trained are just as capable of applying ELS as adults. By acting promptly, they can prevent disability and save lives. Children from 10 years can learn the complete range of ELS skills.
What will we learn?
To demonstrate safe approach and assessment
To make a 999/112 call
To open an airway
To check for normal breathing
To demonstrate the recovery position
To perform one-rescuer, adult, cardiopulmonary resuscitation
To demonstrate the management of choking for adults, babies and children
To know how to manage someone with a suspected heart attack
To know how to deal with serious bleeding.
